Birth: Oct. 26, 1882
Danbury
Fairfield County
Connecticut, USA
Death: Oct. 30, 1917
Danbury
Fairfield County
Connecticut, USA

Son of Elizabeth B. Beckerle and Charles M. Horch, both of Danbury. Carl attended St. Peter's parochial school, Danbury. After leaving school, Carl worked in his father's hat factory until age 21 (1903), at which time he opened his own business in a factory on Sheridan St. The business grew well, and Carl was able to buy the factory and continued manufacturing there until the property was destroyed by fire ca. 1912. He immediately built a larger plant and operated his business there, often working from early in the morning to late at night, until his untimely illness and death. He was well respected as a businessman, and his energy and good reputation led many to believe he would be a local leader in the industry. Carl married Anna Christine Gaa [sic], a milliner, on 25 Sep 1907 in Danbury. Carl died at the age of 35 in his home in Danbury after a three-week bout of typhoid fever. His wife, who lived to 1960, never re-married. He left at least one son, John Carlton Horch, and maybe other children.
