Obituary
Mrs. James Edwards called by Death

Mrs. James Edwards passed away at her home north of Alexandria, Monday afternoon, after a lingering illness of several months.

Alice Liggett was born August 13, 1960 in Savannah Missouri and died at her home three and a half miles north f Alexandria, Nebr., on Ma 16, 1932. She was married to James Edwards in Savannah, Missouri on March 16, 1887 and came with him immediately to Alexandria, Nebraska where she lived and raised her family. To this union were born five children. Baby Helen died March 2, 1895. Gladys died October 26, 1922. The living children are Mrs. William Sweeney and Joseph Edwards, both of Lincoln, Nebr., and Neil, the eldest son, at home.

Mrs. Edwards lived with her husband and family on their homestead for forty-five years. She had especially identified herself in the religious and social activities of her community, and her quiet gentle thoughtfulness of any neighbor or friend in trouble made her very dear to the entire countryside. Her life will always be remembered by those the closest to her as being one filled with very passionate affection for her family and a remarkable and delightful admiration for the building and beautifying of her home. The home of Mr. and Mrs. James Edwards has been for years noted for its elegance, its exhibition of good taste and its deep seated and endearing love for the beautiful. This delightful character was a lover of her garden and her flowers.

She ill for a long time, but during these months none of her family of loved ones heard a word of complaint. There were always words of good cheer, always of the beautiful, always of sweet animated desire to do or say something good about or for those with whom she came in contact. "Aunt Alice" was a character that stood for tenderness, the affection, and the beauty of the countryside. Devoutly and passionately loved by the members of her own family and respected beyond the elements of human measurement by her friends, she lived quietly and unassumingly. Ever will be remembered by those who knew her best, her voice, modulated and sweetened by the highest ideals of human affection. She was always tenderly ministering and giving to anyone in need.

Funeral services were held from the home, Wednesday afternoon, conducted by the Rev Clark of Hubbell. There in the midst of her own garden, surrounded by her own family and the flowers that she had grown and loved, we bid her goodbye. Burial was made in the Alexandria Cemetery.
