Mrs. Viola Marion "Tootie" Neff, 65, of Roodhouse died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.

She was born May 19, 1936, in Roodhouse, the daughter of Allen M. "Dutch" and Leola M. "Blondie" (Crain) Stauffer. She married Everett Alexander in 1959, in Roodhouse, and he died Sept. 8, 1966.

Surviving are a son, Steven (wife Deirdre) Alexander of Roodhouse; a daughter, Mrs. Ron (Debra) Ferguson of Roodhouse; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, Russell Rice of White Hall; and one sister, Ruth Lathery of Jackson, Miss.

Two great-grandchildren preceded her in death.

A member of the Gentle Shepherd Fellowship Church west of White Hall, Mrs. Neff had served as a Cub Scout den leader in Roodhouse for several years, and also owned and operated three different restaurants in Roodhouse through the years, retiring in 1981.

The family met friends Saturday at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Roodhouse from noon until services at 2 p.m. conducted by the Rev. George Cowper.

Casketbearers were Russell Rice, Frank Ferguson, Rick Rice, Bobby Alexander, Wayne Alexander, Mike Talkington, Jess Groves, and Chuck Bush. Burial was at Pine Tree Cemetery near Patterson
