Howard A. Gruber, 80, of Moore Township, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 12, 2011 at St. Lukes Hospice House, Lower Saucon Township. Born: Upper Nazareth Township on August 20, 1930, he was a son of the late Howard V. and Mava A. Fenstermaker Gruber. Personal: He was the husband of the late Lillian M. Miller Gruber with whom he shared 49 years of marriage prior to her death in 1999. Howard honorably served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a repairman for Essroc Cement in Egypt, Coplay and Nazareth for 30 years before retiring in 1992. Previously, he worked at Penn Dixie Cement in Bath for nine years. Howard loved farming and was an avid gardener. Survivors: In addition to his companion of eight years, Norma Gruber of Hickory Hills; he is survived by his loving family, sons: Howard A. Gruber, Jr. and his wife Linda of Stockertown, and Daniel J. Gruber and his wife Jean of Saylorsburg; daughters: Deborah J. Rogers of Wind Gap, Shirley K. Dorshimer and her husband Robert of Saylorsburg, and Sherry L. Hawk and her husband, Daniel of South Carolina; fifteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters; as well as a son-in-law, Raymond Kemmerer of Moorestown. In addition to his late wife, Lillian, he was preceded in death by two daughters: Judith Andrews and Joan Rogers, as well as a sister, Miriam Cooley. Services: will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the George G. Bensing Funeral Home, Inc., 2165 Community Drive, Route 946, Village of Moorestown-Bath, PA 18014. Friends and relatives are invited to call on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Indianland Cemetery, Cherryville. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Howard to the American Cancer Society , 3893 Adler Place, Suite 170, Bethlehem, PA 18017.
