Orky had no tail, she was a manx cat. We did not know until many years later that she also had fused bones at the base of her spine. We thought she walked funny because she had no tail for balance. She had the most luxerious fur you can imagine. It felt like mink.
Orky had a heart murmur also but with VERY few exceptions she was never sick in all her 16+ years. Orky loved playing with her catnip toys. She had toys of all shapes and sizes. She would throw them in the air and then pounce! One year for Christmas she got a spring with a bird on the end and she batted it and played with it for hours.
Orky loved to cuddle and would routinely slam her head into the eye socket of anyone near enough. Then she'd scamper away and come running back. She loved to walk over anyone or anything in her way.
Ok, Orky could be kind of crabby sometimes, what cat would pass up the opportunity to be a cat? She used to hide on the dining room chairs and whack Murphy's tail as he romped by. He must have known she was there but liked to play the game.
I miss Orky very much. For the last year of her life she and I would make sure she took her medicine several times per day. She loved a smorgesboard and rarely ate the first food that was opened. I miss that...
Orky is with Murphy in Heaven and may God watch over them both until we meet again.
