This is my grandfather. I never met him, but I grew up hearing wonderful stories about him from my mom.

He married Susan Mae Cain around 1919. They had eight children, 4 boys and 4 girls. Their names were Joseph, Elizabeth, Stella, Monervia (my mother), Viola, Newton, Henry, and William. Joseph and Elizabeth died in early childhood. Henry died in the Korean War at the age of 19. Billy died in a car accident at the age of 16. The other 4 lived many years more and the last one, my Uncle Newton died in 2004.

My grandfather was a very smart man, and believed strongly in education. He was a hard worker and a loving father. He loved my grandmother very much and called her his Susie.

He raised his family during the depression and times were hard. He would travel many miles from home to seek work. He was very well thought of by all that knew him.

My second sons middle name is George, after my grandpa. He always wanted a son to be named after him. My grandmother seemed to find a lot of names, but none were George!!!! I hope that my Grandpa knows how much I wish I could have met him here on this earth, now I will wait till we meet in heaven.Taken from Death Certificate; Father Joe Edmonson, mother Manerva Dickson, Daughter Mrs. Henry Goodin. His father died in 1922 but I've not been able to locate his grave.
