Death: Albany Leger, Thursday, Aug 22, 1963. Rites Tuesday for Mrs. Akes,
96. Funeral services for Mrs. John T. Akes were held Tuesday, Aug. 20 at the
McFall Baptist church at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. John Atkins of Kansas City and
the Rev. Porter Hopkins officiating. Mrs. Akes died Sunday, Aug. 18, at the
Gentry County hospital, at the age of 96 years, five months and five days. The
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Utz, Anna B. Utz was born on March 13, 1867.
She was united in marriage to John T. Akes at Gallatin on Oct. 1, 1891. To
this union were born two daughters and two sons, all now deceased. She was
preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 18, 1900. Survivors include a number
of nieces, nephews and many friends. Mrs. Akes was a member of the McFall
Baptist church for many years. For the past 3 1/2 years she had made her home
with Mrs. Josephine Giles. The final rites on Tuesday were under the direction
of the Brooks-Cochell Funeral Home. Interment was in the McFall cemetery.
