Dr. Marquand Dies at Age 82

Dr. E.U. Maquand, 82, a practicing physician for over 50 years, died at 12:30 a.m. today at Coshocton Memorial hospital as the result of a cerebral hemorrhage he suffered April 23.

A graduate of Ohio Medical University, Columbus, Dr. Marquand began his practice in Conesville and for the past 25 years had maintained an office in Coshocton. Recently his office was located at 709 Main St. He retired from active practice in January.

Dr. Marquand was born Feb. 20, 1868, at Conesville, a son of James and Mary Cave Marquand, and was married in 1895 to Estella Millikin, who died in 1943. He was a member of the Grace Methodist church and the Masonic lodge in Coshocton.

He is survived by one son, Dr. Edgar Marquand, Berwick, Pa.; three sisters, Mrs. P.C. Shipps and Mrs. Grace Miser, both of Coshocton, and Mrs. Blanche Smailes, Tinway, and two grandchildren.

Two sisters and three brothers are deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Dawson funeral home, 325 McClain av. the Rec. Charles F. Jones, pastor of Grace Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in South Lawn cemetery.

Friends will be received at the Dawson funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday.
