Charles Bazzell was born August 15, 1875, in Lafayette Co., Mo. At the age of twelve years he moved to Vinita, Okla. In 1924 he moved to Maidson, Kansas, and spent the rest of his life in Greenwood County. He departed this life at 5:00 a.m. August 24, 1945, at the Basham Hospital in Eureka.
He was united in marriage with Mittle Ann Giboney at the age of 21. To this union were born ten children. Three preceded him in death. Luther Bazzell died in infancy. Lois and Lee Roy Bazzell passed away in 1928.
Those who survive him are; his widow, Mrs. Charles Bazzell, of Piedmont; the children, Clarence Bazzell, Brownstown, Ill.; Mrs. Rube Thacker, Odessa, Texas; Mrs. A.L. Morris, Windom, Kansas; Earl Bazzell, Pratt, Kansas, and Mrs. R.E. Thompson, Kansas City, Mo.
Three sister who survive him are, Mrs. Lilly Cunningham, Mrs. Emma Harrison and Mrs. Lula Henson of Tulsa, Okla. He had twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, as well other relatives and a host of friends. He made friends easily and was especially loved and admired by the children he knew.
Plans were made for the celebration of their golden wedding anniversary which would have occurred on February 6, 1946.
After marriage he united with the Chriatian Church of which he was a member at the time of his death.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon from the Chriatian Church in Piedmont, by the Rev. Sidney Hawkins, pastor of the Chriatian Church at Neodesha, assisted by Rev. W.R. Elswick of Madison. Interment was made in the Woods Cemetery southwest of Madison.
