Mrs. Wm. Abbe died at her home at 3:10 p. m., Saturday afternoon, August 7. Death was caused from cancer from which she had been a sufferer for the past five years.
Ida Wiechmann was born in Germany in 1880. At the age of 12 years she came with her family to this country and settled in Waco, Texas, where they lived on a farm for about four years. From Texas they came directly to Minnesota, where they lived on a farm in Meriden. She was married in that community to Wm. Abbe in 1898. Following their marriage they started housekeeping on a farm in Woodville township where they lived for eighteen years. They retired from the farm several years ago and moved to this city. Mr. Abbe preceded her in death about ten years ago and she had since been living in her home on Second St. N. W. Mrs. Abbe was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran church from which place funeral services were held at 2 o’clock after a short service at the home at 1:30. Rev. Theo. Hennings, pastor of St. John’s church, officiated.
Among those from out of town in attendance at the funeral were: J. H. C. Schuldt and Mrs. Steinbaer of Owatonna and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schultz of Medford.
