Dora Rose Hartvigsen England, age 85, passed away Jan. 4, 1995 in Logan.
She was born Oct. 23, 1909, on a homestead at Cherry Creek near Downey, Idaho, to Jacob L. Hartvigsen and Wilhelmina Albertina Rose Hartvigsen. She married G.. Eugene England, Sr., on Oct 5, 1932, in the Logan LDS Temple.
She attended schools in Downey and graduated from Ricks College and Utah Sate Agricultural College with a bachelor of science degree and honors: Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Upsilon Omicron. She taught school in Kimberly, Idaho.
For many years she was a member of the Edgehill Ward in Salt Lake City, where she served on Primary, Mutual Improvement Association and Relief Society stake boards and was chairman of the Hillside Stake LDS Girls Committee. She Taught Relief Society and Sunday School. She served an LDS stake mission and from 1954-1957 was Mission Relief Society president while her husband served as North Central States Mission president. She was a temple worker in Salt Lake City for 15 years. She served as matron of the London LDS Temple when her husband was temple president from 1964-1966.
She donated land to establish the Utah Girls' Home, and in 1986 she was a recipient of the Ricks College Distinguished Alumni Award in recognition of outstanding service to her community and church. She was a member of the Edgehill Camp of Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
She is survived by her husband G. Eugene England of Smithfield; one son, G. Eugene England, Jr., (spouse name removed for now) of Provo, and one daughter, Ann Christine, of Smithfield, (spouse name removed for now) and in whose loving care she spent the last three years of her life in secure peace and happiness.
Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, (names removed for now) and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters: Leone Gibbs, Cora Ann Sturgis and Isabell Hartvigsen.
Bishop Dennis Dispain will conduct funeral services to be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Larkin Moruary,, 260 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City. There will be a viewing one hour preceding the services. Burial will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Drive.
