MRS. ELLEN CAREY
Ellen Munkirs was born in Clay county, Mo, Feb 8, 1856, and died at her home in Waukomis, Okla, Feb. 1, 1921, lacking only seven days of being 66 years old.
She was converted at the age of 36 and united with the United Brethren church.
In 1873 she was united in marriage to John A. Carey. (1922)
They moved to Oklahoma and made the race in the opening of the Cherokee Strip and secured a claim 8 miles southeast of Waukomis, where they lived until coming to town. While living on the farm she became a member of the Christian Union Church; and after moving to town joined the Christian church here.
She leaves to mourn her loss the husband, J. A. Carey, two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Rogers of Waukomis and Mrs. Sallie Bowyer of Enid; six sons, William of Enid; Charles and Samuel of Fargo; Ross and Gus of Waukomis and Jeff of Winfield, Kans. Also 19 grandchildren and two greatgrand children.
Mrs. Carey was a Christian whose sincerity was not questioned. She was a mother of whom her children should be proud. She was a neighbor who remembered well kindnesses that she had received. She has finished her task and passed onto the reward of the faithful. She suffered without murmuring and died in the Christian home.
Funeral services will be conducted today. (Thursday) afternoon and interment made in the Waukomis Cemetery.
