Archie was drafted in the Army at the end of 1944 or early 1945, he took training at Ft. McClendon Alabama. He was overseas in the 25th Inf. Div. He was shipped to Latery (?) Island and then to Japan, after they dropped the Atomic Bomb. He pulled occupation duty there for a while. Then they let him come home for 30 days and went back to Japan for a year. Then the army cut back on troops, so he discharged in 1947 or 1948. Then he went into the Airforce in 1950 and served at Warner Robbins AFB till 1952 or 1953.
