Kentucky, USA
Death: Aug. 12, 1896
Ravalli County
Montana, USA

The funeral of the late Thomas W. Baker, which was held last
Thursday afternoon, was under the charge of the Masonic fraternity
of this place, of which deceased was a member. The services
were held in the M.E. church, south, and were conducted by
Rev. T.W. Flowers, of Victor. There was a large attendance, and
many followed the remains to their last resting place in Maplewood
cemetery. Mr. Baker was a good citizen, and leaves to mourn
their personal loss a widow and one daughter, Mrs. nancy S. Gibbins
and four sons, J.W. Baker, Moses H. Baker, Milton J. Baker and
Bennett L. Baker.
-The Ravalli Republican, August 19, 1896

Thomas Baker came to Montana in 1872 and to the Bitterroot Valley
in 1876. The log home he built stands across the road from the
Stevensville reservoir and is supposedly the oldest continuously
inhabited house in the area. It locally is referred to as the Moses
Baker house.
