Horton — Services for Ira Amsler (Kee-Waho) Allen, 90, Winchester, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the New Community Building at the Kickapoo Reservation in Horton. Burial will be at Kennekuk Cemetery, rural Horton.

He was born Aug. 27, 1909, at Horton, the son of Rueben and Josephine (Cadue) Allen.

He farmed in the Horton area until he moved to Winchester in 1968. Mr. Allen served in a Civilian Conservation Corps camp in World War II. He was a carpenter at Haskell Indian Nations University from 1967 until his retirement in 1971. He also played for and coached for several semi-professional baseball teams.

Mr. Allen was a member of the Kickapoo Tribe of Kansas and the Kahbeah United Methodist Church in Horton.

He married Ruby B. Simpson on July 15, 1938. She survives of the home.

Mr. Allen is also survived by five sons, Donald Ray, Horton, Ronald John, Oskaloosa, Virgil Alvin, Baldwin, Raymond Marion, Winchester, and Harold Keith, Cummings; six daughters, Connie Marie White, Eureka, Edna Mae Emmett, Albuquerque, N.M., Sheilah Iris Barnhardt, Eudora, and Bonnie Jo Milroy, Carol Sue Barnhardt and Carolyn K. Snodgrass, all of Winchester; a stepson, Robert Eugene Simpson, Falls City, Neb.; 32 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at the Barnett Funeral Home, Oskaloosa.

WINCHESTER -- Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the new community building on the Kickapoo Reservation west of Horton for Ira Amsler "Kee-Waho" Allen, 90, Winchester, formerly of Horton, who died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000, at a Topeka hospital.

He was born Aug. 27, 1909, in Horton, the son of Rueben and Josephine Cadue Allen. He graduated from Horton High School and attended a vocational-technical school in Genoa, Neb. He lived near Horton many years and was a farmer. He lived in Winchester since 1968. He was a former coach and had played semi-professional baseball for several farm clubs. He was a carpenter at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence from 1967 to 1971.

He was a member of Kickapoo Tribe of Kansas. He was a member of Kabeah Methodist Chapel in Horton.

He had served in a Civilian Conservation Corps camp during World War II.

He married Ruby Simpson on July 15, 1938, in White Cloud. She survives.

A grandson, Ronald John Allen Jr., and a great-grandson, Michael Robertson, preceded him in death.

Survivors include five sons, Donald Ray Allen, Horton, Ronald John Allen, Oskaloosa, Virgil Alvin Allen, Baldwin City, Raymond Marion Allen, Winchester, and Harold Keith Allen, Cummings; six daughters, Connie Marie White, Eureka, Edna Mae Emmett, Albuquerque, N.M., Sheilah Iris Barnhardt, Eudora, and Bonnie Jo Milroy, Carol Sue Barnhardt and Carolyn K.
