Richard Edgar Brandt died in Port Angeles of respiratory failure. He was 66.

He was born in Edgeley, N.D., to
Spencer and Mattie (Foy) Brandt.

He married Lavonne Carlson in Detroit Lakes, Minn., on June 19, 1958.

Mr. Brandt worked in the oilfields of Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, for 22 years.

He belonged to the Eagles and sponsored a race car at the Port Angeles Speedway for several years.

Mr. Brandt, who was a country-western cowboy at heart, also liked fishing, ice skating and bowling.

Survivors include his wife; son and daughter-in-law Richard E. and Jennifer Brandt Jr. of Port Angeles; daughters and sons-in-law Susanne K. and James J. Jerome, Teresa R. and Roger Ingram and Laurie L. and Chris Swegle of Port Angeles, and Richelle E. and Curtis Wright of Sequim; and sister Helen Hoveskeland of Port Angeles.

Other survivors are his mother of Jamestown, N.D.; brothers and sisters-in-law Spencer and Lisa Brandt of Dickey, N.D., and Thomas and Lisa Brandt of Eatonville; sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Gordon Broadwell of Kathryn, N.D.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by daughter Ranae Telios, his father and grandchildren Jerrad Lee and James Richard Jerome.

Services: Saturday, Aug. 23, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., visitation at Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, 105 W. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Other observances in Jamestown, N.D., and burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, Edgeley, N.D., will be announced later.

Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, Port Angeles, is in charge of local arrangements.
