Bessie was the daughter of Gilbert and Toba "Toby" (Levenson) Feder. She was born in Zlotniki, in the Galicia province of Austria-Hungary (now Ukraine). In about 1900, she immigrated to the United States, settling in Manhattan. She was survived by four children, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
