John Acker, an old resident of this town, died at the Peekskill Hospital This past Tuesday night, of Bight's disease,aged 76 years. He had been an Inmate of the hospital several weeks. Mr.Acker was born near the present pumping Station of the water works. He resided on the farm until he was married to Miss Abbie Smith about 53 years ago They farmed it for a few years and then moved to Peekskill.
Ho had many political situations during his career He was at one time a police officer In Peekskill, was connected with the street cleaning department here and for a number of years was an officer at Long Branch during the summer months. For a number of years he had no regular employment.He is survived by four sons, Charles,William, George and Harry, and one daughter, Mrs. Sarah McCoy. The funeral services were held from the home of his son, .120 North James street, yesterday(Friday) afternoon. The Interment
was at Van Cortlandtvllle.
