From the Ossian Journal:
Mrs. Byron Ady died at her home in Ossian, Friday afternoon after an illness of more than two weeks, due to paralysis and complications. Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon from the Ossian M.M. church, Reverend Preston Polhemus officiating, assisted by Reverend G.A. Suider. Interment was made in Prospect cemetery, west of Ossian. Mrs. Ady was born in Trumbull County, Ohio, November 19, 1849, and was seventy-eight years of age at the time of her death. She came to Wells County, Indiana when a small child with her parents, Isaac and Victory (Cotton) Sowle, and spent the remainder of her life in Union and Jefferson townships. Her marriage to Byron Ady, a civil war veteran, occurred in 1868, and their new home was established on a farm. Thirteen years ago Mr. and Mrs. Ady moved to Ossian. The husband and father survives, with the following daughters and son: Mrs. Victory Brickley, of Uniondale; Mrs. Forrest Wolf, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Isaac J. Ady, Joplin, Mo.; Mrs. C.M. Dayton, Osborn Ohio; Mrs. Christ Miller, Flint, Mich. the children all reached their mother's bedside several days before she passed away. Three children are deceased, Locasta, the wife of Lee (Levi) Byerly; Blanche and Iola Ady, who died in childhood. Thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren survive. One brother is living, Joseph Sowle, of Woodland, Calif. A brother, Jerry Sowle, died at his home at Logansport four weeks ago. Three sisters of Mrs. Ady resided in and near Ossian, Mrs. Mary Ann Wolfcale, Mrs. C.W. Scattergood and Mrs. J.W. Osborne, all of whom are deceased. With the passing of Mrs. Ady an excellent mother and good citizen has fallen asleep, one whose exemplary Christian character everyone who knew her has held in high esteem.
