MRS. CLARA ABERNATHY DIED TUESDAY NIGHT, RITES HERE FRIDAY
Mrs. Clara Friedericka Abernathy, 80, of Shelbyville, formerly of Pana, died at 11:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at the Depaepe-Ashcraft Nursing Home where she had been a patient 2? years. She was born in Shelby County on Nov. 7, 1887, her parents being the late Thomas and Katherine Lye (sic) Singer. She was married to Glenn Abernathy, who died in January 1940. Mrs. Abernathy was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and Royal Neighbors of America, Pana. Surviving are 2 sons, Paul of Robinson and Thomas of Shelbyville; a daughter, Mrs. Eleanora Sloan of Altamont; also 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, at the McCracken Funeral Home, with interment in Mautz Cemetery, Dollville. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3:00 p.m. today.
