MASON PILOT MOUNTAIN - Ethel Mae Brinkley Mason May 31, 1927 - July 31, 2011 Mrs. Ethel Mae Brinkley Mason, age 84, of Pilot Mountain, died Sunday, July 31, 2011 at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born May 31, 1927 in Surry County to the late Jesse Green Brinkley & Bertie Pell Brinkley. Mrs. Mason was a retired seamstress and a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Charles W. Mason, Sr. & wife Barbara; Pilot Mountain, NC; grandchildren: Susan Wocher & husband Frank; Elm City, NC & Charles "Chuck" Mason Jr.; Galax, VA; great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Sara and Mason Wocher all of Elm City, NC; sisters and brothers-in-law: Rosa Ella Taylor, Lillian Joyce & husband Bobby and Carol Bottoms & husband Gray all of Pilot Mountain. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mason was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, John Jefferson Mason. Funeral Service will be held
Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Howell-Nelson Funeral Chapel of Pilot Mountain, conducted by Rev. Ron Chamblin with interment to follow in the Pilot Mountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017 or to a charity of the donor's choice. The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful staff at Mountain Valley Hospice & the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home for providing such loving and compassionate care.
