Richard C. "Dick" Bledsoe, Sr., 77, of Leola, passed away January 10, 2012 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Fulton Township, he was the son of Grover G. Sr. and Mary O. (Wilbar) Bledsoe. He and his wife Paulette (Long) Bledsoe celebrated 40 years of marriage last March, 2011. Richard retired as Equipment Manager in 1994 from PennDOT in Lancaster County after 30 years of service.

He was a 40 year member of Leola United Methodist Church. He enjoyed his woodshop, making many things for family, friends, and his church. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, reading and traveling with family and friends. He enjoyed family times together with the children and grandchildren especially on Christmas.

Since 1976 he was a member of Lamberton Lodge #476 F. & A.M., Lancaster Lodge of Perfection, and Harrisburg Consistory. He was a past president of James Buchanan High Twelve Club #687. He received the Meritorious Service Award in 2001 and became an honorary member of the 33rd degree in 2007. He served on the board of Director's for the Lancaster Masonic Center and was Building Chairman until 2010.

Surviving besides his wife Paulette, are his children Richard Jr. husband of Deb, Sharon wife of Frank Greiner Jr., Marcia wife of Wayne Widders Jr., Wayne husband of Michelle, and Phillip. He was granddad to Jessica, Michele, Matthew, Amanda, Derek, Alex, Ashley and Nicole. Also survived by his brothers, Grover Jr., and Rodger. He was preceded in death by a sister, Rosalind Morton, a brother Joe and a son David.

A funeral service will be held from the Leola United Methodist Church, 7 West Main St., Leola, PA on Thursday January 19th at 11:00 am. Friends may call at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA on Wednesday January 18th from 6:00 to 9:00 PM with a Masonic service starting at 8:30 PM. There will also be a closed casket visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Thursday. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Richard's name can be made to the Children's Dyslexia Center of Lancaster 213 West Chestnut Street, Lancaster, PA 17603 or to a charity of your choice.
