Obituary:
Longtime resident of Corsicana, Texas, passed away November 17, 2004. He was born on July 31, 1899 in New Market, Alabama. When Sydney was six years old he and his family relocated to Barry, Texas and later he moved to Corsicana. He was educated in the Corsicana schools. Sydney was also a veteran of World War I, he was only one of a hundred which are still living. His parents owned a service station and grocery store on North Beaton Street. Sydney ran the family business until his retirement. He was also a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Corsicana. He was preceded in death by his parents, A.W. and Margaret Barley, and his wife of 70 years Aurelia Castle Barley. He is survived by a nephew, W. A. Barley, Sr. of Malakoff, Texas and a cousin, Glenda Goedde of Huntsville, Alabama. Graveside Service will be Saturday November 20, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at the Oakwood Cemetery. Rev. Mike Alexander will officiate. The family conveys a special thanks to the staff of Heritage Oaks West Nursing Home, and the caregivers from American Hospice. Arrangements by Corley Funeral Home.
