Old George Lutes, one of the inmates of the county house, is in poor health and may not recover. George has been a county charge for 13 years, was the first person cared for at the farm and his residence has not been changed since he came there. Years ago he was violently insane, but since he was taken to the poor house his insanity has assumed a
milder type and he has been much of the time a useful hand about the place. No one knows the cause of his insanity. The unfortunate man is now about fifty years old. (The Clare County Press, p. 1 – Clare, MI – 4 December 1885)
