Died.
HOKE--On, Tuesday, July 10, 1894, Mrs. Nancy M. Hoke, aged 74 years.
Mrs. Hoke had been confined to her bed but for a few weeks before her death which was caused by stomach trouble. She was born in North Carolina, where she grew up to womanhood and 45 years ago she married John Hoke of that state. They moved to Kansas in 1869 and settled on the farm where she died, her husband having passed away several years ago. She lived about a mile north of the city, and was well and favorably known. Grandma Hoke was a good woman, as all can testify that knew her. Funeral services were held at the residence on Wednesday by Rev. Bites of Chicopee, and her remains were followed to the Cherokee cemetery by a large concourse of friends. (The Cherokee Sentinel, 13 June 1894)
