Maggie Blackwell Armstrong, 98, of Fairview Street, died Sunday, November 21, 2010. She was the widow of Ishmael S. Armstrong, and daughter of the late Robert F. and Cecila Gosnell Blackwell. She was a member of Fairview Street Baptist Church for 63 years.
Surviving are four daughters and spouses, Pat (Bob) Harris, Joann (Jack) Runyan, of Simpsonville, Linda (Henry) Peden of Fountain Inn, Delores "Loppy" (Calvin) Saxon of Hickory Tavern; two sons, Larry J. Armstrong and fiancé Jean Pace, Richard S. "Dickie" Armstrong of Fountain Inn; four sisters, Hilda Morris, Iva Wood, Frances Stewart, Ernestine Scroggs of Greenville; a brother, Eldridge Blackwell of Greer; 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by three sisters, Bertha Anders, Ruth Smith, Allaree Armstrong; four brothers, Woodrow, Durham, Virgil, and Grover Blackwell; and two grandchildren.
