Marytje Pier was born in New Jersey of Dutch parents. She was a descendant of Teunis (Anthony) Pier of the Netherlands. She married James Sigler, who was from the very large Dutch Sigler family, possibly from Appledorn, Holland. They had four children: Guy, William Henry, Mary Sigler Knapp, and James Delos Jr. This family belonged to the Dutch Reformed Church. Marytje and James had a large farm in Clarkson, Monroe, New York. The Knapp Cemetery and the Sage Cemetery were the same cemetery.
