Martha Higenbotham was the daughter of William Higenbotham, Esq., and the granddaughter of Capt. Thomas Higenbotham. Her mother (given name unknown) was the daughter of General Scurlog Williams of Clongill Castle, County Meath. Martha Higenbotham married Allen Adams of Corraneary House in or about 1735. They had five sons and two daughters, i.e., Richard, James, William, Samuel, Benjamin, Margaret and Jane. After the death of her husband in 1755, she continued to reside at Corraneary House with her second son, James. She died there in 1807 at age 105, and was interred in Knockbride Churchyard.
