Mary Ann came to Sacramento with her three oldest children in 1855 via the Isthmus of Panama to join her husband, George HACK who had arrived in 1852. The Bartley Cavanaugh Golf Course at Freeport, is located on their old ranch on the east bank of the Sacramento River. Mary Ann and George had seven children, five of whom are buried here at the Historic Cemetery: George Washington HACK, John Thomas HACK, Annie Elizabeth HACK CARRINGTON, Emma HACK LANDES, and Charles Jenkinson HACK. A son, Nathan David HACK, is buried at Oak Park Cemetery, Sacramento, and a daughter, Mary Ann Lucy HACK OSWILL is buried in Alameda County, California.
