After re-enlisting, was given a month's leave, during which time he married Mary Barnham (April 5, 1864) in New York. Rejoined his company in May 1864. Promoted to Sergeant Major at the beginning of the Siege of Vicksburg, May 1864. Shot in the left thigh at the Battle of Atlanta, July 22, 1864. Promoted to 1st Lieutenant and Adjutant May 19, 1865.
Mustered out at Louisville, KY on July 16, 1865.
