Joseph was born the son of the late Valentino and Pasquarosa (Dalphonso) Addario. Joseph passed on at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital, following a brief illness.

Joseph attended local schools and was a lifelong resident of the area.

In 1941, Joseph entered the U.S. Army. He served in many battles and campaigns including Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland and received a number of medals and ribbons in recognition for his service. He was honorably discharged in 1945 and returned home to Berlin.

Upon his return home, Joseph married Josephine P. (DiPietro) and together they raised four daughters. Joseph was employed for many years by the Brown Co. in Cascade, retiring in 1984 as a chemical engineer. He was a former member of St. Benedict Church and a long-time member of Holy Family Church in Gorham.

After retirement, Joseph and his wife would winter in Florida, visiting Tampa and Orlando regularly. He enjoyed trout fishing and always maintained a garden at his Cascade Flats Home. In his free time, Joseph loved to play cards and was an avid Red Sox fan and also enjoyed watching any kind of baseball. He loved his children and grandchildren and will be remembered as a very quiet, kind and loving man.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Josephine; as well as by his daughters, Nancy Mills of Fryeburg, Linda Hannigan and her husband, William, of Gorham, N.H., and Brenda Leavitt and her husband, Richard, of Fryeburg; and his son-in-law, Paul Clark. He is also survived by his brothers, John and Armand Addario and his sister, Maria Ferrante, all of Cascade, N.H. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, as well as by his daughter, Rose-Marie Clark and his son-in-law, Carlton Mills, as well as by his brothers, Constantino, Tony and Eugene Addario.

At Joseph's request, there will be no visiting hours. Interment will immediately follow the services at Holy Family Cemetery with full military honors. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fleury-Patry Funeral Homes of Berlin and Gorham, N.H.
