Clifford Michael Ballard, 83, former Washington County Deputy Sheriff, died Thursday, June 28, 1962, at Bartlesville. His funeral was held Saturday, June 30, 1962, in the Keeley-Neekamp Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Broadace Elkins, Pastor of the First Methodist Church. Interment was held at Sunnyside Cemetery, Caney, Kansas.

He was born March 26, 1879 in Patterson, Illinois, and was reared in that area. He came to Oklahoma in July 1897, making his home near Copan. He established a ranch there and was active in early day oil field exploration. He later was active in law enforcement work, serving as a deputy sheriff under Tom Sears, Wilbur Spears, and Curley McCombs, Washington County, Oklahoma. He was married in 1902 to Florence Ann Medlen who died in 1927 and they had seven children. In 1929 he married Hettie Thompson Rash.
