JO ANN AHERN
Jo Ann Ahern, 68 of Plevna, died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 1994 at the Columbia Medical Center in Columbia, Missouri.
The daughter of Homer R. and Georgia Belle (Steffen) Rich, she was born Oct. 13, 1926 in Newark, Missouri.
On June 23, 1946 she married John L. Ahern and he survives.
Also surviving are five sons, Philip Ahern and his wife, Carol Jean of Montgomery City, Chris Ahern and his wife, Jeanne of Atlanta, Brian Ahern and his wife, Rhonda of Plevna, Tim Ahern and his wife, Becky of Burlington, Iowa, and Terry Ahern of Phoenix, Arizona; one sister, Agnes Moore of Tuscon, Arizona; nine grandchildren, Nathan, Ethan, Joni, Erwin, Olivia, Julie, Jennifer, Betsy, and Katie Ahern; three step-grandchildren, Jeff, Jason, and Julie Cochran; two nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Worth Yancey Rich.
Mrs. Ahern was a graduate of Edina High School and also Culver-Stockton College in Canton. She taught school in Newark, Plevna, and Steffenville, and was a substitute teacher for area schools for a number of years. She and her husband resided in the Plevna community where they were engaged in farming.
Mrs. Ahern was a 50 year member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority and the Alumni Association of Culver-Stockton College. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Vice President of the Knox County Republican Committee. She was also an active member of the Christian Church Women's Council and the Plevna Christian Church.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 19, 1994 at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel in Edina. Burial was in the Newark Cemetery in Newark.
