My Dad's twin and my favorite uncle.

Mr. Lester Lyman Nash of Ontario, California, 89 years old, passed away at Corona Regional Medical Center on Monday, February 7, 2011.

Born in Monroe County, Wisconsin to Walter and Blanche Nash, Lester was born as a twin with his brother, Leonard Leland Nash. He also had three other siblings, Lloyd (Helen) Nash, Jay (Viva) Nash, and Cleo (Edwin) Stavlo, all deceased. He is survived by a son, Victor and wife Sandra, and daughters, Darlene Good, Shelley Russo, and Pamela Vargas (deceased), 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren.

Lester married Mildred Mounts on July 7, 1941 and the following year went into the Army. During WWII he served in the 82nd Airborne of the Glider Division. He was dropped near enemy lines of the Normandy Invasion. He was awarded with several medals in his 4-year enlistment as the rank of TSG. The awards he was honored with were: Victory Medal Europenan-African-Middle Eastern, Theater Ribbon with three bronze battle stars, Bronze Service arrowhead, and five overseas service bars along with a good conduct medal.

He and his family moved from Wisconsin to Southern California in 1956, becoming a Postal Worker and retired after 35 years of service.

On September 1, 1989 Lester married Rita Goudy in Riverside, California. Rita passed away in 2002.

Lester's first wife, Mildred, is also deceased.

We have reason to be sorrowful.
One who gave meaning to our lives is gone.
It is natural for us to grieve.
Still, there is another truth that we dare not forget.
The one we love is with the Lord.
That is not just a hope for us to carry,
It's a promise for us to accept
a promise that reaches out to us
across all the centuries.
A promise from the Lord, Himself.
May we all find our own sense of peace
With this promise, this grand assurance
That there is no death, and that our separation
At this time is only temporary.
