Albert L. Rick
Birth: Jan. 17, 1937
Manitowoc County
Wisconsin, USA
Death: Feb. 5, 2005
Sheboygan County
Wisconsin, USA

In the 1970s and 1980s I worked with Albert's wife, Donna. She was a bank teller at the same bank I worked at. Silk floral arranging was a hobby of mine, and I did all the flowers for two of their daughter's weddings, Nancy and Karen. How well I remember planning for those weddings, and all the fun we had. What a warm and wonderful family! When dear Donna passed away suddenly in 1995, poor Albert was never the same. How he grieved! On February 5, 2005, he took matters into his own hands. Now he is with his sweet Donna. I'm sure God understands.

Albert L. Rick, 68, died unexpetedly on Saturday, February 5, 2005. Albert was born on January 17, 1937, in Cleveland, Wisconsin to Walter and Elva (Wusenhagen) Rieck.

On August 25, 1956, Albert and Donna Mae Dross were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church. She preceeded him in death on July 6, 1995.

Albert started his career in carpentry with his father and went on to work for Great Laks Homes for a number of years. He started his employment with Joseph Schmitt and Sons Home Builders in 1965 until his retirement in 1997.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving over the years as an usher and as a member of the Trinity Lutheran School board. Most recently he served as a volunteer on the Landscape Committee. He was also an active member of Petermann's Hunting and Fishing Club where he received great joy in showing his grandchildren the process of raising and caring for the pheasants. He also served as a volunteer at Kohler-Andrae State Park on the shores of Lake Michigan in the maintenance area. Albert was a lifelong member of the Carpenters Union.

Albert was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and camping.

Albert is survived by three daughters, Sherry (Tim) Tasche of Sheboygan, Nancy (Tim) Carman of Sheboygan Falls, and Karen (Mike) Rach of Sheboygan, two sons, Bryan L. (Lois) Rick of Plymouth, and Steven (Chris) Rick of Sheboygan, seven grandchildren, Tara Drews, Zachary and Jordan Rick, Bradley and Lauren Carman, Samantha Rick, and Joshua Rach, one step-grandaughter, Tabitha Tasche, two brothers, Donald (Paula) Rick and Kenneth (Roxanne) Rick, all of Sheboygan, a brother-in-law, Richard (Sylvia) Dross of Tennessee, his special friend, Lorraine Hermann, and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, Albert was preceded in death by a brother, Allen Rick, his mother-in-law, Alvina Kottenhahn, and a brother-in-law, Dennis Dross.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 9th, at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Kevin R. Loughran, associate pastor, officiated.

Buriel took place at Lutheran Cemetery in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

Albert will always be remembered as a hard working individual who instilled those values in others. He was loved by so many, and will be dearly missed.

A special thank you to my special friend, David (Compassion) for sponsoring Al's memorial site.
