Sketch of Life.

Frank August Anderson was born June 3, 1852, in Sweden, coming to America as a young man. He was accompanied by Albert anderson, residing in the south part of town and another young man named Anderson. Following two years in this country, the young men sent word to Sweden for their fiancées to come to America and their marriages followed shortly after their arrival here.

Frank Anderson and Mathilda Charlotte Johnson were united in marriage October 5, 1878, at Swedish M. E. church in Bishop Hill. Their marriage took place five years following their meeting at a public gathering in Sweden.

The couple took up their residence on a farm northwest of Galva, and after 17 years retired and moved to Galva. Mr. Anderson secured a position as cupola tender at the Hayes factory where he was employed for a period of 30 years, retiring in April, 1926.

Surviving are four children, two daughters and two sons, Mrs. M. W. Chestley, of Galva; Mrs. Clifton W. Walsh, of Kewanee; John Anderson, of Oneida; and Oscar Anderson, of Cambridge. There are also four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, in addition to a half-brother in Sweden.

Mrs. Anderson passed away June 22, 1931, and a daughter, Amanda Jane, preceded him in death in 1901.

Mrs. and Mrs. Anderson celebrated their golden wedding anniversary October 5, 1928.
