Carr Richard Carter was a cotton farmer and owner/operator of a turpentine distilling operation. He was the father of Dr. Curtis H. Carter, academic dean of the Medical College of Georgia (deceased). He is buried in the churchyard at Carter's Chapel Methodist Church, Hwy 80, near Scott, Georgia.
