Michael Gardner died in Harrison Valley, PA on May 24, 1877, of a lingering sickness having its origin in a derangement of the liver, in his 42nd year of his age. His home at the time of his death was in Almond, NY, but he had gone to where he died to see his physician, but was too feeble to return to his home some thirty miles distant. It so happened that his father lives in this neighborhood, and his death occurred under the paternal roof. He left a widow and four little children to plod their way on through the winding and sometimes rough journey of this early life of ours. God be their protector and guide.
