Roger A. “Moe” Bowers, age 71,
of Willard, passed away at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester on Friday, May 29, 2009.
In accordance with Moe’s wishes, there will be no services, instead please remember him and the time you spent together, and perhaps consider a donation to VFW Post #6200, Memorial Fund, PO Box 1, Ovid, NY 14521 or the American Cancer Society, 1400 Winton Road North, Rochester, NY 14609 in his memory.
Moe was born on September 22, 1938 in Geneva, the youngest of 11 children to the late Raymond and Helena (O’Dea) Bowers. He joined the US Army in the late 1950’s and then worked for the Stromberg-Carlson Company on the telephone crew. His work took him to Hawaii, Largo, FL, Boise, ID and eventually Jamestown, NY. He also worked at Fold-Pack in Newark for 18 years. Upon his retirement, he moved back to the Ovid area and enjoyed his summer job at Sampson State Park on the maintenance crew.
He is survived by his daughter, Ginny (Jared) Bowers Hall of Wolcott, and his grand daughter, Sydney Madison Hall, his siblings, Jack (Anna) Bowers of Chili, Barbara Vienna of Manchester, Ray (Gert) Bowers of Reno, NV, and Bruce (Roseanne Pedula) Bowers of Ovid, and numerous nieces and nephews. Moe was preceded in death by his siblings, Donald, Richard and Robert Bowers, Jane Russer, Carol Brooks and Joan Baker.
