Obituary from The Kenosha Telegraph, October 21, 1887, p.2.
An accident which caused the death of Charles Barber occurred at Camp Lake Thursday evening of last week, at about 6. p.m. He was killed instantly, having been struck by an engine while crossing the track. One horse was so badly hurt it had to be killed. The buggy was a complete wreck. He leaves a wife and five small children. The funeral sermon was preached at the Congretional church Sunday by Rev. O.B. Thayer, assisted by H.H. Lugg. There was quite a number of relatives from abroad who came for the funeral. The family have the deepest sympathy of the community.
