Alicea Rites
Lake Station - Services for the Rev. Esteban Alicea, 62, former Portage resident who died Thursday, will be at 10 am Monday at the Latin Pentecostal Church of God of Lake Station. The Rev. Alicea was co-pastor of the church.
The Rev. Maria Diaz will officiate; burial in Calvary Cemetery, Portage; visitation 4 to 6 pm Saturday with a service at 7 pm; and 2 to 5 pm Sunday with a service at 7 pm.
The Rev. Alicea was a member of the Spanish Council of the Pentecostal Church of God, a past director of the Domestic Mission Department and interim pastor of many churches in the council. He was a retired laborer employed by Inland Steel for 15 years and a World War II veteran of the US Army.
On Jan. 19, 1947 in Puerto Rico, he married Doris Quiles, who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Ismael of Valparaiso, Ruben of Texas and Reinaldo and Isaias both of Merrillville; six daughters, Abigail Rivera of Portage, Elsa Gomez of Michigan, Lillian Alicea of Illinois and Damary Luis of Wisconsin; three sisters Angelina Rosario of Puerto Rico, Marcelina Nussa of Gary and Isabel Cruz of Puerto Rico; a brother, Lipo Santana of Chicago; and 21 grandchildren
