Birth: Dec. 25, 1957
Death: Nov. 30, 2003

David graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a BBA and later earned his MBA and CMA. He was an officer in the Army for 10 years, achieving the rank of Captain, and then worked as a financial controller for various government contractors, most recently, Karta Technologies Inc.

He loved the outdoors and spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife Melody and their son, Daniel; parents-in-law James and Joyce Smith; brother-in-law, Justin Smith and wife, Kristen; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin (1998) and Marian (1994) Harper and his sister, Carla Hilton (1997).

David was a kind soul, always with a smile on his face and a soft laugh to share. He adored his family and was as hard-working and honest as the day was long. He left us suddenly and without reason. He is dearly missed and loved.

I think of David now and then. He was best man at mine and his brother Allen's wedding. He sprayed silly string all over the car and my veil. We were mad. He was always fun. He is missed by many.
