AVALON— George P. McGinnis Jr., 84, of Avalon, WI, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007, in Beloit Memorial Hospital. He was born on Feb. 16, 1922, in Washington Township, Iowa, son of George and Mary (Porter) McGinniss. He married Dorine Garvey on Aug. 24, 1952, in Beloit; she died on March 13, 1998. George was a 71 year member of First Presbyterian Church in Clinton, and served as Trustee Chairman for 30 years. He was a 1939 graduate of Clinton High School. He was a farmer all his life and worked for 32 years as a Pioneer Seed Salesman and for 30 years as trucker and dispatcher for JATCO. He was a friend to all and a very kind and generous man, and an avid Green Bay Packer fan. He was a devoted family man and loved his children and grandchildren. George had so many good and close friends and enjoyed his time with the Lantz family, Judy Korth, Tom and Rose Mair, and so many more, especially his granddogs, Rufus and Hoss. He is survived by a daughter, Julie (Don) Michels of Clinton, WI; 2 sons, Craig (Carie) and Scott McGinnis, both of Avalon, WI; and 3 grandchildren: Serena and Gavin Michels and Dustin (Leah) McGinnis.
