The son of Joseph E. Bacon and Sarah Ann Brown. Obit: Carl Bacon Dies at 78. Funeral services for Carl J. Bacon, 78, will be held at 2 p.m. Tueday at the Bliss U.B. Church. Rev. Martin Alexander will officiate and interment will be in the Bliss Cemetery. Mr. Bacon died Sunday at Little Traverse Hospital. He was born May 15, 1898 in Resort Township. He attended schools in Petoskey and after moving to Boyne City with his family, he attended school there. Mr. Bacon worked at his father's blacksmith shop in Boyne City. In 1917 he moved back to Resort Township where he lived on several farms until 1927. On Jan. 25, 1924, he married the former Maud Mann in Bliss. The couple made their home in Resort Township and after a period of moving, settled on a farm in Bliss Township where they have been since. Mr. Bacon attended the Bliss Missionary Church and he was a member of Top of Michigan Farm Bureau. Survivors include his widow; one son, Henry of East Tawas; one daughter, Mrs. Harry (Carol) Leiber of Petoskey; six grandchildren; on great-grandchild; two brothers, Earl of Williamsburg and John of Petoskey; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Bates of Grand Rapids and Mrs. E. W. (Nina) Eudy of New Bern, North Carolina.
