A lawyer and patriot. Nehemiah Beardsley served as a major in the 10th Connecticut Regiment and then was promoted to Colonel of the 16th Connecticut Regiment. He made a most valiant showing at the Battle of Ridgefield in April of 1777 against General Tryon (Tryon's Invasion) and a key force with his men in the battles of Fairfield, Bedford and Norwalk in July of 1779. Served under General William McDougall and General Benedict Arnold.
