Obit in the Thursday, September 30, 1920 Sturgeon MO Leader. Transcribed as written.

Carter Alexander Dead - Carter Alexander died at his home near Tulip Saturday morning, Sept. 20, 1920 aged 78 years 9 months and 5 days.

He was married to Miss Lucy Margaret Schooling of Boone County, on May 1, 1881. He moved to Tulip at once, whee they spent all of their married life. She preceded him to the grave 14 months ago. To this union were born four children, Homer, Ora Shuck, Henry and Mrs Emma Jane Dowdy. Henry died at the age of one year, in 1900.

Besides these children, he leaves six grandchildren two son-in-law, Jesse Shuck and Fred Dowdy, to aged sisters, Mrs. Lizzie King of Sturgeon and Mrs Emma Settle of Clark.

Uncle Josh, as he was called by his friends and neighbors, was of old rock-ribbed pioneer stock, endowed with stern uncompromising principles honest of a fault, never flinching, ikndustrious and thrifty, one of the best of friends to those he trusted.

He professed faith in Christ about 29 years ago and united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church remaining true to his convictions and conceptions to the end.

He was a great sufferer, uncomplaining for many years. He peacefully passed away. Thus through the storm and stress of life, bleeding with many a wound the fight, he has conquered through Christ, Who love him. We can truly say, thanks be to God, Who giveth the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Funeral service was conducted at the local Methodist church Sunday morning by Rev. Egan Hendron and burial in the cemetery at Union by the side of his wife.

The Leader extends sympathy to the bereaved family.
