Dale E. Andrews, 59, of Terre Haute died unexpectedly early Monday morning, Aug. 14, 2006, in his residence. He was a retired postmaster for the U.S. Postal Service and currently was working for Wallace, Inc.

He was born June 15, 1947, in Terre Haute to James Andrews and June McDowell Andrews. Survivors include his wife, Cindy Erney Andrews; his mother of Terre Haute; one daughter, Amy Phillips and her husband, Nicholas of Whiteland; two sons, Chad Andrews and Jacob Andrews, both of Terre Haute; one stepson, Jimmy Wallace and his fiancee, Cynthia Sandberg of Clinton; one brother, Jim Andrews and his wife, Marcie of Brownsburg; one sister, Marilyn Huffman and her husband, Ronnie of Terre Haute; brothers-in-law, Rick Erney and Bill Erney, both of Terre Haute; four grandchildren, Chloe and Kailynn Phillips, Kyler Wallace and Ashlyne Sandberg; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; and one child, Kellyn Andrews on Aug. 6, 2003.

He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, a past commander and quartermaster of Lawton-Byrum Post 972 Veterans of Foreign Wars, a life member of Marine Corps League, a member of American Legion Posts 104 and 346, Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge, AmVets, and Shrine Prairieton Lodge 178 Free & Accepted Masons.

Services are 9 p.m. Friday in Callahan-DeBaun Funeral Home at 2425 Wabash Ave., with VFW Post 972 officiating. Private family burial is in Highland Lawn Cemetery.
