Mr. Counts worked for IBP in Emporia, and he served in the Job Corps in South Dakota. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was decorated with the National Defense medal and Sharpshooter medal.
He was born May 4, 1954, in Great Bend, the son of Arthur LeRoy and Ethel Bucl Counts. He lived in Topeka until he moved to Phoenix in 1990.
Survivors include a son, Allen LeRoy Counts Jr., Topeka; his parents, Arthur LeRoy Counts and Ethel Counts, both of Topeka; a brother, Christopher Morgan Counts, Topeka; a sister, Jacqueline Sueann Reyes, Topeka; and two grandchildren.
Mr. Counts was cremated.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Allen LeRoy Counts Memorial Fund and sent in care of the funeral home.
