Bill was born on July 31, 1927, in Turlock, California, to William G. and Ione (Dougherty) Little, and was married to Charlene S. Taylor on Febuary 5, 1948 in Gunnison, Colorado. They had four children, Susan, Patricia, William and Charles. Since Bill's father was a fruit and vegetable inspector with the USDA, they were forced to follow the crops in their seasons. Bill grew up and went to 18 different schools in Colorado, Idaho, Arizona, and California before the family finally was able to settle down in Del Norte, where Bill graduated from high school with the class of 1945 and won the Bausch & Lomb Science Award for the highest grades in math and Science. He attended Western State College in Gunnison, where he met his future wife. Graduating with a B.A. in the summer of 1953, he majored in history and poitical science and minored in music education and general science. He returned in summers to Western State to receive his MA in history and political science. Between high school and college, Bill was drafted into the Army and served in Germany and Austria in 1945-1947. He also served with the Army Security Agency from 1948-1950 when he transferred to the Army Reserves in order to finish college. He taught band and chorus from 1952-1966 in several schools in Colorado and Kansas. He joined the Marine Reserves in 1957, serving with MACS-23 at Buckley Air Base until 1966, when he was called back to active service during the Vietnam conflict. He retired in 1982 with the rank of Master Sergeant at Marine Corps Base, 29 Palms, California, where he taught electronics. After retirement, he went back to school at Fuller Theological Seminary, graduate with the degree of Master of Divinity and was ordained a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA). He served churches in Stamford and Orleans, Nebraska, 29 Palms, California, Monte Vista and Del Norte, Colorado. At retirement from the ministry, he was named Pastor Emeritus of the Presbyterian Church in Monte Vista. He was a voulunteer Chaplain for the Rio Grande County Sheriff's office and the Rio Grande County Search & Rescue teams. Bill's hobbies were golf, fishing, hunting, music, reading and model railroad building.
