William E. Betz, of Bellerose, Long Island, New York, died on July 13, 1998. Member of Jamaica Queens Lodge #546 F. and A.M. Retired member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers (BLE) and former Locomotive Engineer with the LIRR for nearly 40 years. He was also a WWII veteran. Described by his grandson, Wayne T. Marquiss, NYPD: "he was a 'hard nose' from the Old School. He did his job 100 percent and gave every ounce of himself to his work." Son of the late Phillip and Grace A. Betz, husband of Wilhelmina and father of Kathleen Betz Amberg and Holly Betz Kraleski. Brother of Katherine Betz (Mrs. Roland) Hildebrandt, Philip Betz and the late Grace A. Betz Ruppert (Mrs. Frederick William Ruppert, Jr.). Grandfather of three. Arrangements were made by the Weigand Bros. Funeral Home, Williston Park, Long Island.
